It relies on people being honourable and sticking their hand up for bands they like, rather than only for their mates' bands. Some people are like this, but some people are not. The system is also vulnerable to the ole pop-around-the-back-and-stick-your-hand-up-again-on-the-other-side-of-the-room exploit. Confirmed. Seen it in action. The increasing price per ticket is also interesting. A "friend of mine" is convinced his band are going to have to sell 40+ tickets to get through Round 2. At £7 a pop. That kind of hard sell has got to be difficult, especially when the gig-goers see 20 minutes of the band they care about and 120 minutes bands they don't. That's about £3 per minute. Finally, the Copyright infringement thing. Whoever sent that takedown notice was a complete idiot. It was obviously not going to work, and it was obviously going to blow up in Surface's face. Duh.
